The Day… (Malachi 4:1 - 3) 221007

Malachi prophesied that the day is coming (v1). What will happen on the day? Burning like a furnace (v1) and treading down the wicked (v3). But what do all these mean for me?

Something life can be so mundane and maybe sometime oppressing by the injustice of the world, but the day will be coming to set everything back into order. This is the hope I can have as a child of God, as one who fears the Lord.

Maybe life is unfair, but God never says that life will be fair. When God does not bless the wicked, we say God is not merciful, but when we see the wicked seem to be blessed, we complain that God is not just. God also receives unfair treatment. If we are honest with ourselves, we only want fairness to be given according to our personal preference.

But the day is coming. The day which Malachi was preparing had come. The day whereby we can know that God is still in control, both the wicked and the righteous will be treated fairly, according to God’s grace and righteousness. The day will come whereby God is the judge and the mediator for you and I, and our sinfulness.

The day whereby Jesus came was prepared way ahead of time, the day whereby Jesus was crucified on the Cross was also prepared way ahead of time, the day whereby the church received the power of the Holy Spirit to do the redemption work of the Lord was also prepared way ahead of time, and the day whereby you and I were convicted of our sinfulness and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior was also prepared way ahead of time.

I once wanted to have all the answers to all the questions about life, I wanted to know how God "runs" the world, and I wanted to see justice. The day had come for me to understand that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, He will uphold all righteousness, even if we don’t understand how, and He doesn’t run the world, but He loves every individual in the world. That was the day. I am thankful for the day. Have you have the day?
