Once Blind Now See (John 9:24-34) 220307

This is amazing grace! A testimony of a man born blind, but now he sees (v25). We may not have such dramatic experience during our conversion or even thus far as a Christian. But we know that we were once blind by our sinful nature and now we can see the work of God in our life.

On the Sunday that was just passed, I was sharing a thought with youths from my attachment church. The youth leader was actually sharing his recent mission trip experience and challenging the youths to go in September too. He was trying to help them to see that though they may not be well equipped in term of Bible knowledge or other skills, but their testimonies can be a blessing to the people in the mission field. I sensed that the youths were not convinced and were sort lost. They were not able to state an incident where God has blessed them! I told them this was because they were blind! They were initially offended, but as I explained, they realized that they are really blind to the blessing of God in their life.

I was sad and I was glad too. I was sad because these young people couldn’t see the work of God and acknowledged them. They came to church week in week out, they were professing Christian, they study in Christian or Mission Schools, they were brought up in Christian families; but the reality of Christ was not with them! I was glad because they were teachable, they wanted to learn to see God’s blessing in their life. I was thankful that the song we sang that morning was Amazing Grace!

Do you have a blessing to share? Or are you blind to the work of God in your life? Do you realize that the fact that you are alive to read this devotion is a blessing from God? Do you realize that you can have  a job is by the grace of God? But have you told anyone these blessing you have received? What is your testimony? Can you instantly and spontaneously share the work of God in your life? The blind man can, he might not have full knowledge of who Jesus was, but he knew that Jesus had healed him, and he was willing to share his experience with others, even he knew that he was going against the authority of those days (v27-34).

Where is your testimony?

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found,
was blind but now I see

T’was grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear,
the hour I first believed

Thro’ many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.
